Common Commercial Laundry Challenges To Be Aware Of

Blog

Operating a self-service laundry facility can be a great way to provide the community with a valuable service while also earning revenue. Unfortunately, any time you invest in commercial laundry equipment, you also take the risk of certain malfunctions. It's important to know some of the most common issues that you might encounter and ways to address them before you call for repair services. Here are some of the things that you need to know.

Won't Accept Coins

A commercial laundry machine that isn't accepting coins may not actually be malfunctioning at all. There's a sensor in the coin receptacle that prevents the machine from accepting any more coins when the receptacle is full. Try emptying the receptacle first to see if that resolves the problem. If not, check the coins to be sure that they are in good condition and the proper coins. For example, many U.S. laundry machines won't accept Canadian quarters. If none of these things seem to be the source of the issue, you'll need to call a repair technician to see what the problem could be.

Not Getting Laundry Clean

If laundry comes out of a commercial washing machine and it doesn't seem to be clean, there could be any number of problems. The most common, however, is that the soap dispenser may be clogged and not functioning. Especially with commercial laundry equipment, the machines see a lot of use. Without routine maintenance to flush out and clean those detergent dispenser cups, they can get clogged with residue. Remove the dispenser cups and clean them out, then check the system to be sure that it's clear. If the detergent dispensers are clear, reach out to a local repair technician for more help.

Drum Not Rotating

With a commercial dryer, if the drum isn't rotating, the problem may be electronic. If the cycle switch isn't functioning properly, it may not trigger the drum to spin the way that it should while the dry cycle is running. In other cases, it could be a damaged belt. Any time you have a problem with a commercial dryer refusing to spin, you should call a repair technician to address the electronics and the belt on the motor.

With a washing machine, the most frequent cause of the drum not spinning is either something between the washer and the drum or the load may be out of balance. Try to shift the load around or remove a few things first. If that doesn't help, you may have something wedged between the drum and the washer.

These are some of the most common indications of problems with commercial laundry machines. Talk with a repair technician today for more help and information.
